The Pearl District is becoming one of my favorite places. Alphabetized streets, pretty old buildings, cool bike rack art - what's not to love? And the baristas at the Starbucks on 11th & Lovejoy are always so happy I am there.

a wedding shower.

This past Sunday I hosted a wedding shower for my friend Shannon, with the lovely ladies of PUMP at the Russell home. I love parties and decorating and planning things so when the opportunity presents itself I will take whatever I can and go with it!

We had a dessert table and hot chocolate bar, and a few healthy options too. We played a couple games, showered Shannon with advice and gifts, and got our sweets fix in for the month!

Not too shabby for a Sunday afternoon.

Happy Birthday to you!

I should have posted this yesterday but let's forget all the "coulda, shoulda, woulda's ". A school friend of mine (who's about to have a baby any hour!) mentioned something about a Dr. Suess nursery which I am ALL for. I've pinned enough ideas anyway. :)  Nurseries, playrooms, parties...yep, you might call it a problem. Or  a w e s o m e !

Anyway, what was I even talking about?

Oh, it was Dr.Suess' birthday yesterday and to celebrate I did some drawings of some of his iconic characters. I love drawing Suess world things. Mostly because they turn out alright. :) Anywho, here was the result of three hours of 'therapy' :)

(Oh! We also watched the new-ish version of The Cat in the Hat! I own it and had never seen it. It was fun...weird to see Alec Baldwin. Haha. And I just felt like Mike Meyer was trying to be a) Austin Powers or b) Charles Nelson Riley.)

I think these drawings would be cute framed in a nursery :)

Here's a little project I started mostly because I had a silhouette photo of myself...and found these twinsies frames at Goodwill.

Now I just have to print the one of Husby and we'll have some new wall decor :)

Maybe I'll do a D.I.Y. post with the next one ;)

So, now that I have given the gift, I can tell you what I made for my friend Savannah. She passed her nurse test and I had some sewing kits I had been collecting from hotels and whatnot . . . sew (sorry, I had to) I decided to make her a mason jar pin cushion/sewing kit. Because, she too, loves a good mason jar.

Putting the pin cushion together was the hardest part; for the most part I just made it up. Basically, I hot glued some felt to the inner top rim of the lid ring, stuffed it with some pillow stuffing & then hot glued the flat part of the lid on. Much harder than it seems. You have to get it reeeeally tight so there is still room for the lid to screw on. Then I hot glued matching felt & fun buttons to the bottom of the flat part of the lid.

Apparently I didn't need the sealer part of the lid, some cardboard would have sufficed. Oh well. Here's an easy to follow tutorial if mine is confusing : )

... a little match box! Glue some cute paper on and you're good to go! (I had this fabulous sewing paper - how could I not use it!?)

I added some curling ribbon to the top of the jar... just because : )
